I explored the internet, looking at all kinds of curly hair styles. I put it off and
put it off.
Then I finally did it. My sister set up hair appointments for both of us at Belle Melange. They even specialize in curly hair and really know what they are doing. My sister had been there before and recommended them. That gave me confidence. So, off we went. And Melanie was in town, so she came too (for moral support, thanks Mel). That's what friends are for. We had a fabulous time.
I told my stylist that I wanted my hair cut, layered, but I wanted the shortest layer to be at my shoulders. So, she did it and did a great job. Then I asked her to cut more off. How funny am I? I ended up cutting off about 6 1/2 inches total.
And it was exhilerating. It felt great. It perked right up and seems so much more healthy now. It's weird when I grab my hair to put in a pony tail, and there's barely any there (compared to before.. BUT- I can still get it in a pony tail. It's not too short but not too long. And great for summer. I love it. It also used to tickle my elbows and my arms because it was so long down my back. It just got to where it was so long, it weighed down the top and didn't look as good. And I'd just want to put it up all the time. But when I did, I would get a headache since it was so long. And when I left it down, it was like a heat insulator.
It was just exciting for me. I have had my hair trimmed, but this really was like my first real haircut at a salon. It was a fun experience.

Cute! I love it, it looks great on you! I know how you feel having to really find someone who can manage your hair! My hair is super thick, and I've had some stylists really mess it up! Especially when we moved here because I didn't know where to go. You would think going to an expensive salon would mean it would look good, but I don't think that's true! I chopped my hair way off about a month ago, it feels great to go short.
Your new haircut looks great! I also suffer from the curse of the curls who never do what I ask..so I also went from having hair down my back to layered locks 2 months ago. I was also happy and find that its so much easier to handle now! It also took me about 4 years to make the decision though! :-)

I completely uderstand about the curly hair thing, I have had some horrible hair cuts and at this point I don't even try to get it to look good short, I just enjoy the shortness. Your hair looks really cute though!
