We're sick of being sick!!!!!

What's been going on around here is no fun. On my last post, I just meant we've been busy being sick and unable to do much posting so when things calmed a bit, I'd jump back on here. We just need to get back to normal life again. Sheesh.

I had bad allergies/sinus problems. It turned into a cold. I finally got over it. We're also going through a really hard time with family and loss. Then last week, I had training way in town (over an hour from my house)  so it was a long commute each day. Sy got sick on Sunday and by Monday, it was terrible. Achy, high fever, etc. He stayed home from school Mon and Tue. He went to the doc just to get checked out on Tue. We got some meds, especially since he has lung and respiratory problems. Then he finally started feeling better.

Then, guess who woke up Wed morning not doing so good. Yep, Vin did. It's that vicious cycle (you all know what I'm talking about). One person in the family gets it, and it makes its rounds.

Vin's started as a runny nose, then high fever. We thought he got the same thing Sy had. Then by Thur night, he was vomiting. All of his symptoms continued. The fever stopped but by Sun, he had diarrhea. He threw up everyday, at least once a day from Thur-Tue. So, I took him into the doc yesterday. We ruled out all the possibilities, not roto virus (he has had a vaccine for that and it covers 3 strains of it, the other strain only comes from a 3rd world country the doc said), not salmonella (I was worried he might have eaten something with all the recalls) because blood shows up in their vomit or their stools and cramping in the stomach.  The doc checked him all over, no ear infection, but his throat is red. He said it looked so sore. And he has a sinus infection (which because of all the mucus can cause vomiting I guess) but he didn't know why the diarrhea. He wasn't dehydrated, thank goodness. But we had to go get chest and stomach x-rays to check on pneumonia and a few other things the doctor wanted to check on. If he keeps vomiting, he'll have to stay at the hospital over night and get an IV.

The test results came back and they were ok. He hasn't thrown up since yesterday (keep my fingers crossed). The doc wanted him to try this RX called Zofran (but apparently my insurance doesn't cover it, and it was going to be $693). So, I'm sure all of our prayers and the blessing Drew gave him is why he isn't vomiting anymore. We just need the diarrhea to stop now. He's been having gatorade, no juice. That's for sure.

So, as unexciting and unsuspenseful as it is, this is what we've been up to.

This is what Vin's been doing:

Looks like fun, doesn't it?

Oh, I am so sorry. No fun. We have been sharing in on some of the fun as well. Stomach flu 1st, then the snot thing. That is weird about Vin. It drives me crazy when I don't know what's going on w/ my kids. Zofran is the only way I survived my preg. w/ Abby. Expensive though!!! Yikes. Most ins. don't pay.
