Sy's baptism

My baby (who is getting bigger but will always be my baby), Sieben, turned 8. This makes it an extra special year since he also got baptized on Saturday, October 29th on his actual birthday. I am so proud of him and the handsome, amazing young man he is turning into. I love you Sy.
This is a beautiful keepsake box that Sieben's grandma made for him for his special day.
She put a copy of the baptism invitation, a copy of the baptismal program, cards, notes, pictures, and he was able to put any small gifts he received. Such a neat idea. One tradition she and "papa" have is as their birthday gift when they turn 8 they get their own set of scriptures with a carrying case. His name was printed on the front of the scriptures. That is something else that all of the cousins have to check out. Tucked inside the tote are cute bookmarks, marking pencils, and we add a unique zipper pull to each tote. His said "I know the scriptures are true."

The baptism was amazing. Our family came out in full support. Both Papa's gave talks and both grandma's said the opening and closing prayers. All the "cousins" who were in attendance sang a special musical number "Teach Me to Walk in the Light". The kids did an amazing job and the message of the song outpoured the Spirit. I am so grateful for the knowledge of the Gospel and of all the children being taught to walk in His light.
As the primary president stood to welcome Sy as the newest baptized member of the church she spoke of the "cousins" which he is one of and how grateful she is to have them all in the children's organization. With Sy, there are ten cousins all in the same ward. The kids are close and it's so nice for them to all grow up together.

Following the baptism we celebrated his birthday and baptism with an ice cream sundae bar. We had everything from bananas, hot fudge to peanuts, oreo crumbs, and reeces pieces. We had vanilla and neopolitan to top.
The day couldn't have been more perfect for my perfect little boy.

That sounds like such a special day. I am jealous because up in our stake it will be a stake baptism and will include all the month of b-days. I wish we could have it like in Coolidge where it really is their one and only special day! Tell Sy that he is such a wonderful little boy and he is walking in the light of Christ!
